Acromioclavicular Shear Test
The Acromioclavicular Shear Test is performed to detect acromioclavicular joint involvement. With the patient in the seated position, cup the shoulder with the fingers interlaced while placing the heel of one hand against the distal end of the clavicle and the heel of the other hand over the spine of the scapula. Now squeeze the heels together, creating a shear stress through the acromioclavicular joint. Pain or abnormal movement at the acromioclavicular joint constitutes a positive test indicating acromioclavicular pathology.
